Nate Barrett :: About
Nate has been around music his whole life. He started playing lead guitar in his parent's family band at age 11 in the Boston area. Soon after that he made the move to Nashville and landed a recording contract with Lyric Street Records (Walt Disney Company) and was signed as a writer for EMI Publishing all at the age of 16. He gained experience writing with award winning songwriters such as Kent Blazy, Bill Anderson, Chris Dubious, Randy Goodrum... and worked with world renowned producer/engineers Chuck Ainley and Ben Fowler which gave him the schooling he needed to understand how to make a record.
He later parted ways with Lyric Street and EMI at the age of 18 and decided to move back to Boston to find out what he really wanted to do musically. So he started a production company with his father in the Boston area and worked producing and writing songs for local artists. Their production company won many awards. It was then that he found out what his true desire was, to write and produce music for artists. Because of this production experience he knows how to work with artists and help them find the sound they are looking for and create music that they love.
Nate made his way back to Nashville with his wife Cara to finish what he started but now knowing what he wanted to do. To pay the bills he started his own window cleaning company and one day he ended up cleaning windows at an old friends house, award winning songwriter Kent Blazy. They reconnected and started writing again and not long after Kent signed Nate to his Publishing company “I Want To Hold Your Songs” Publishing.
Nate is currently writing for “I Want To Hold Your Songs” Publishing and is also busy producing music for fellow writers. You can see him around Nashville performing his music at writers nights and other events.
